I’m in the U.S. and I’ve nearly finished reading Demystifying the Spanish Subjunctive.  Having studied Spanish for a while, and having bought MANY books on the subjunctive in my attempts to better understand it, I have to tell you that your book is absolutely beyond fantastic!  It offers the clearest, most lucid explanation of how/when/why to use the subjunctive mood in conversation than ANY of the so-called “expert grammar” books on the market.  As an English-speaking learner of Spanish, I sincerely appreciate the time you took to write the book in such a thoughtful manner aimed at learners such as myself!  It has absolutely “demystified” (a perfect title) the subjunctive for me.  I still have much practice to do, but your book has taken me a long way towards better Spanish communication and conversation skills in a much shorter amount of time than any other source I’ve used.  I just wanted to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to you both.

Why we created this book.

A couple of years ago, LightSpeed Spanish created a range of videos in Youtube on the Present and Imperfect Subjunctive Spanish. They were an instant hit! But why?

Well, it’s true that any student of the Spanish language worth their salt knows that, at some point, they are going to have to face up to the Subjunctive. But what really made the range so popular, according to the repeated feedback received is that the theme of the series was making the Subjunctive easier. And so it was the success of the series that inspired LightSpeed Spanish to create the book you can see above.

But wait, the Present and Imperfect Subjunctive Spanish made EASY? Really?

Perhaps the word should be, EASIER. Rather like climbing a steep hill, there are some routes that are easier than others. The trick is knowing the easiest. And it is this kind of short cut that LightSpeed Spanish has created in their latest book!

Using a totally new system of what they call, ‘TRIGGERS?, they guide you in a step by step way through what has traditionally been a very tricky subject.  To ensure learning has taken place, they have also built into the process a multitude of practical exercises along the way to reinforce the understanding.

This is used widely and involves getting people to do the same thing three times. Three is a powerful number and by doing the same exercises three times, you are sure to capture the idea and retain it. There are more than 600 sentence that you are guided to create so that by the end of the book you will be quite the expert.
